About VetKat

Honouring the Spirit.
Preserving the Story.
Sharing the Wisdom.

The Vetkat Art Foundation was founded to celebrate and protect the artistic, spiritual, and cultural legacy of the San and Khoi peoples, First People of Southern Africa.

Inspired by the life and work of Vetkat Regopstaan Kruiper, a visionary San artist, and Belinda Kruiper, a poet, activist, and storyteller, the Foundation exists as both a tribute and a tool. A tribute to the past—and a tool to shape the future.

Vetkat’s art is more than ink on paper. Each drawing is a vessel for memory: of animal spirits, desert paths, dreams, and ancestral truths. His lines speak a language older than words—an echo of the ancient rock engravings found across the Kalahari.

Belinda’s words, rooted in deep empathy and fierce love for the land and its people, gave context and voice to that art. Together, they documented a culture threatened with erasure—and inspired one destined for resurgence.

Belinda

The Voice of the Kalahari

Belinda is more than an author, poet, and activist—she is a bridge between worlds. A woman of deep empathy and fierce conviction, Belinda walked alongside the San people not as an outsider but as a devoted partner, chronicler, and spiritual ally.

Her life with Vetkat Regopstaan Kruiper was one of shared purpose. While Vetkat’s art spoke in symbols, Belinda’s words gave those symbols breath, capturing the essence of Kalahari life, its struggles, sacredness, and wisdom.
